Coconut Oil
One of the most common ingredients in a variety of products from soaps and scrubs, to lotions and conditioners. Coconut oil is a nourishing oil known for moisturizing and conditioning properties. It contains fatty acids that help cleans and is great for both skin and scalp. Coconut oil is often refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD). The RBD process removes impurities and odors that exist in natural pressed coconut oil.
Canola Oil
You may be familiar with canola oil for cooking, but canola oil is a great choice for soap making. 100% pure canola oil produces a creamy lather quite similar to many more expensive or luxurious oils on the market. Refined canola oil does not leave any lingering natural scents in finished cold-process soap products.
Soybean Oil
Is used to harden cold process soap and create a longer lasting bar of soap. Soaps made from natural oils generally do not last as long as commercial soaps with harsh and toxic chemicals. Soybean oil is a great option to help increase how long your bar of soap lasts, and helps keep your soap bar hard in the shower, saving you money. Soybean oil is refined and has a low amount of natural odors remaining.
Olive Pomace Oil
While Extra Virgin Olive Oil is used in some of our specialty soaps, Olive Pomace Oil has less natural "olive" scent and is more clearer in color. Olive pomace oil is produced from lefover pulps from the first pressing of olive oil. Olive pomace oil is a great choice if you want to better manage the color of your soap, and prevent the natural strong olive odor from interfering with your fragrance. With olive pomace oil, you get the benefits of olive oil for your skin, without the less desired color and odor in your finished soap bars.
Sunflower Oil
100% pure Sunflower Oil is rich in fatty acids, making it great for skin and haircare products. It is used in a variety of products such as soaps, lotions, conditioners, body oils and salves. It is a great oil to use on dry skin as it is not too quickly absorbed into the skin, while at the same time is lightweight so it does not leave that heavy oil sensation on the skin. Sunflower oil is typically refined to remove impurities and natural odors.
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
Lye has been used in the soap making process for generations. Yes, lye is a caustic soda, but no lye remains after the saponification process (oils being turned to soap). We superfat (add extra fats) our soap to ensure there is no lye remaining in the finished soap bars. Making soap with lye is the traditional process and is a much better alternative to the harsh and irritation chemicals that many moderns soaps are made from.
Fragrance
It is important to note that our standard label premium soap is made with fragrances for customers seeking a variety of pleasantly fragranced soaps. For customers who wish to avoid synthetic fragrances, try our Mango Butter-Avocado Soap, or our Shea Butter-Almond Soap. Our premium and more luxurious soaps are made with either Essential Oils or All Natural Fragrances. Check product labels for more specifics on the type of adde scent.
